MRS. MAYLOR'S
SPEECH WEB SITE
Welcome back, students and parents - it's going to be a great
year!
What do students learn in Speech Therapy? We work on learning
to say new sounds, learning vocabulary, using smooth speech and
learning how to put a good sentence together.
Students usually come to Speech class once or twice a week. I
frequently send homework for parents to do with students at
home. This helps parents keep up-to-date on what we are
working on and helps solidify new skills. Students receive
"incentives" when they return homework on a consistent basis.
I meet with parents at least once a year to review their child's
progress and talk about therapy for the next academic year.
This meeting is the "IEP" meeting - Individual Education
Plan. I'll get in touch with you a couple of weeks before the
IEP is due for review to set up a meeting. I will be at
Briarcrest this year on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call me at
368-4170 if you have any questions.
