Welcome to the Family Advocate Webpage!

My name is Susie Moore and I am the Family Advocate here at Brookside.

The role of the family advocate is to partner with students, families and staff in order to provide support and resources to meet the needs of our families.

Family Advocates can provide support in many different ways, including but no limited to:
 - community resources / referrals
 - short term consultation / support
 - assistance during a family crisis or transitions
 - teaming with families and school staff to help support students in reaching academic and behavioral goals

If your family needs assistance at any point this school year please do not hesitate to contact me or drop by my office.

I am at Brookside 20 hours a week.  Here is my schedule:
   Monday: 8-12
   Tuesday: 9-1
   Wednesday: 8-12
   Thursday: 11-3
   Friday: 9-1

I'm very good about responding to emails or voice messages, so feel free to contact me that way if it is not convenient for you to see me at the school.

This is my first year as the Family Advocate.  I can't wait to get to meet you and your children, but until then, I will let you know a little about myself.

I'm passionate about supporting all kids and families in being able to have happy and fulfilling educational experiences and I'm so excited to have the opportunity to work at Brookside in this role.  My background is in family support and social services.  I have a BA in Psychology from University of Washington and a MA in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College.  I have two kids who attend schools in the Shoreline School District - my son, Jamie, is in third grade at Lake Forest Park, and my daughter, Grace, is a sixth grader at Ridgecrest.  I have been an active volunteer in both kids' schools for the past seven years, working in their classrooms to support the teachers, run enrichment groups and teach art as a volunteer Art Docent with the PTA.  I also just completed my second year as PTA Co-President at Lake Forest Park.  In addition to my volunteer jobs, I have been working as a facilitator for a Play and Learn group at Lake Forest Park.  This will be my third year leading this free playgroup for parents and caregivers of children birth to 5 years old.  The group is open to anyone in the community, so drop by LFP on Thursdays at 9:15am if you have a little one.

I look forward to working together towards a happy and successful year!
