Welcome to Room

Caroline Irene
Misener (otherwise known as Carrie, unless she's in trouble) is a
true native Washingtonian from Seattle. She has also lived and
worked in Oklahoma, Hawaii and Korea. She has received her BA in
Education, Special Education, MA in Reading /Language Arts, and
also minored in Psychology. Her Alma Mater is Seattle Pacific
University.
She has taught in the Shoreline School District for over thirteen
years and has worked at an adult literacy center for close to
twenty years. During High School and right after Carrie worked at
an energy systems business, insurance company and as a swim
instructor and lifeguard.
Carrie's hobby is collecting stars, especially stars with
personality. She is the official moon coordinator for Brookside and
has been a lighthouse keeper at the New Dungeness Lighthouse in
Sequim. She also enjoys reading mysteries, walking, hiking,
swimming, badminton, going to movies with family and friends and
spending time with her nieces and nephews. Now an official
homeowner, Carrie is getting pretty good at fixing things, and
likes to work in her yard and mow the lawn in the late
evening right around dusk. (She recommends you try that, it's
pretty cool!)
Her favorite books are all kinds of mysteries (J A Jance and Earl
Emerson for starters). Her favorite children's books are
Grandfather Twilight and The Secret Garden (and she hopes to have
her own someday). Movie favorites include "The Shawshank
Redemption" and "Frequency". As for food, Carrie likes pretty much
anything (except brussel sprouts and liver!) but especially sushi
and homemade cookies.
Carrie's Thoughts on Teaching: "Working with children (especially
3rd graders) is the most exciting, challenging and rewarding work
I've ever done."
