Kaydee McGillivray was born at Forbes Air Force Base,
in Topeka, Kansas (a military brat). After graduating from
Shoreline High School she went on to Shoreline Community College,
Seattle University and Lesley University. She has earned her BA and
MA in Education as well as an AA in Law Enforcement.
Kaydee has taught sixth grade and middle school
for twenty-seven years in Hoquiam, Montesano, North City and
finally at Brookside. She has also taught high school summer school-

Kaydee's hobbies are photography, reading and
traveling. Her favorite books are murder mysteries (go
figure) and she sets a ten-book-goal for each summer. She recently
traveled to Philadelphia for the NEA Convention, but as a guest not
a delegate (which means she got to do a lot of sight seeing).
She was able to hear Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards
speak.
As for movies, "If there is singing or dancing,
I'm there!" she says. She is looking forward to the new
“Hairspray” movie. Kaydee especially enjoys iced tea
and any dish that includes pasta, but does NOT enjoy sports that
make her sweat. She loves to surf, but hasn’t had the chance
lately.
Kaydee's son, Tighe, is a graduate of CWU in Art
and Philosophy. He is currently working for Goggle Earth. Her
daughter, Margaret, will finish at CWU this December. She is
an anthropology major with a minor in Native American
Studies. She is working at a resort in Alaska this summer and is
300 miles from the nearest road.
Kaydee has a brother, Dan and two sisters,
Kennie and Mary Kay. Her mom, Carrie, lives in Shelton. Kaydee's
family also includes Guinness (Junkyard cat), Cleopatra (ugly
kitty) and Nellie (who is on a visitor’s visa).
Kaydee's Thoughts on Teaching: "My goal is to
send forth students that understand that they have a voice and
through that voice they can make a positive difference!"
