A little about me . . . I have taught 14 plus years in all grade levels up to grade eight. I received my Masters in English as a Second Language and Curriculum and Instruction. My husband and I reside in Redmond. Our two sons each live in the Seattle area. They both graduated from WSU so we are COUGS all the way. I love animals, collecting rocks, shells, and Blue Delft. My favorite activity is walking on beaches and snorkeling. I love teaching and seeing growth in children. Traveling is another one of my loves. I have visited the Philippines, Greece, Italy, Germany and Austria. This February I will be working in the Philippines during my Winter Break, assisting in the squatter communities, teaching and instructing teachers and students and training them in areas of Math and Computer. I have been doing this for the past five years. There are now over 40 schools that have been started. This work is almost self sustaining so it is time for me to move on. My next possible country to help will be Uganda. I'm still looking into how I might assist. My grandmother was a teacher, my father was a teacher and now I am a teacher. I think teaching is in my blood. My desire is that every student will gain the skills and knowledge that will open up a new world to them. My hope is that they will use their new skills and knowledge to make our world a better place. |
