Mid Year -February

We are already mid year! It hardly seems possible.

Thank you for setting your child up for success by working on the following concepts:

Math:

  • Counting to 100
  • Identifying and naming numbers to 100
  • Skip counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's
  • Creating and solving math sentences addition and subtraction 1-10 ( using dice is a fun way to do this....ask your child to show you the game :-)

Reading:

  • Identify and name all letters.
  • Practice sound recognition of words /c/ /a/ /t/
  • read sight words: A list will be sent home by the end of February.  Please practice nightly
  • Read :  TO your child, WITH your child, have it read BY your child.  Exposing children to literature early on helps them become great readers and writers in life. :-)

Writing:

  • Practice writing sentences with creative spelling. Sentence guidelines:  start from left to right, first letter of first word begins with an uppercase letter, ends with a punctuation mark  (period, question mark, or exclamation point. )
  • Encourage your child to be an author and illustrator by writing stories and drawing pictures to match the words.

Have Fun!
