Echo Lake's 5th Grade Sees Jack Prelutsky

The 5th grade classes from Echo Lake went to Third Place Books on March 27th to watch local author/poet Jack Prelutsky perform with author/illustrator Chris Raschka.

Authors Visit Echo Lake

Derek Benz and John Lewis, best selling authors/illustrators of the Grey Griffin series, visited with Echo Lake's 4th and 5th grade classrooms on March 2. They introduced students to their new book, Rise of the Black Wolf, with readings, original art, and a question and answer session. The authors demonstrated to Echo Lake students the process in which they create each book. Students also were able to purchase signed copies of their new book, and the first book in the series, Revenge of the Shadow King. The author visit was free, courtesy of Third Place Books.

Echo Lake To Host Authors

Echo Lake will be hosting two best selling authors, Jon Lewis and Derek Benz, in the Echo Lake library on Friday, March 2 from 10:15-11:20. Lewis and Benz co-authored  the popular Revenge of the Shadow King, book #1 in the Grey Griffin series. They have a new book called Rise of the Black Wolf. The authors will discuss writing and their new book with 4th grade students and Mrs. B/G's class. Students may purchase signed copies of both books through Third Place Books. Celebrate 50 years of Cat in the Hat

This year, 2007, Dr. Seuss's most famous book, The Cat in the Hat, is 50 years old. To celebrate this anniversary and Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2, Echo Lake wants you to send in pictures of your cat (or other pet) wearing a hat. These pictures will be posted around the school. Bring pictures to Echo Lake's librarian, Dennis Day by March 5th so they will be up for the Ice Cream Social/Open House on March 8. If you have questions call or email Dennis Day.

Overdue Contest Begins Feb. 5

To generate enuthiasm for the up coming book fair, the Echo Lake library will sponsor a contest with a chance to win prizes from the book fair.

Students will have the opportunity to put their name in the Dr. Seuss hat and be eligible for prizes like free  books, just by bringing their library books back to the library on time  during thier regular , weekly library session. No overdue books means a name in the hat and a chance to win a prize.

The overdue contest run for three weeks. It will begin Feb. 5 and end March 2. Prizes will be announced each day of the Book Fair beginning March 5. Have fun and get those library book in on time!

The Echo Lake Book Fair Returns March 5-9, 2007


The Echo Lake Library will host a Scholastic Book Fair in March 5th through March 9th. The library will be turned into a retail store full of books and educational materials.
