Our program includes a wide range of
activities, projects and experiences to meet the diverse needs and
interests of all our students. We maintain a balance between an
active learning environment and a creative play center, providing
both structured educational programming and free time for self
expression, reflection and relaxation. We focus upon the
development of positive self-esteem and personal confidence,
responsibility to self and others, and teach life and social skills
such as communication, problem solving, compassion and positive
behaviors.
We have crafts and group games, cooking, science and music in our program, and this year we will be specifically working on creating a Bully-free Classroom. Check out our lesson plans (under Documents) for events such as Family Nights, P.J. Breakfasts, Field Trips and more! We will also be blogging (as close to daily as possible) - see the Discussion Link. Our teachers are Julie Blackwood and Christina Khass-Mattas. Christina is a Shorewood graduate and is beginning her third year with us and Julie (Shorecrest!) is so excited to be starting her fourteenth year at Echo Lake Extended Care!
