I feel lucky to have realized that teaching is something that I truly enjoy doing.  My job is a huge part of my life as my personal and professional often cross paths. My family and I live in Shoreline.  My husband Brian and I have three children ~ Colby who is in 6th grade, Hayley who is in 5th grade, and Brady who is three.  Life is busy with soccer, basketball, baseball, and swimming, as well as walks with the dogs and keeping connected with old friends.

What is a sixth grader anyway?

They are like fireworks on the 4th of July ~ fun, expensive, dangerous, breathtakingly beautiful, explosive! They make you O-O-O-hh and A-A-A-hhh. They are neatly packaged into a small to large, deceptively simple container. They come in all shapes and sizes. Each one carries its own hidden beauty. Some are much more powerful than others and go off with a deafening boom! Others start off as if they really have potential and they fizzle out.

The most wonderful part about fireworks is that they come only once a year. Sixth graders come only once in a lifetime. You often get a true sense of their beauty only if you gaze at them from afar. When you are too close, the smoke nearly chokes you away.

Sixth graders and fireworks are a challenge to those who work with them. They are often held responsible for making or breaking the show. But, if placed correctly and handled with loving care, they provide the most delightful and moving display of beauty and power you will ever see!
