Welcome to my web
page! For the 2009-2010 school year I will be teaching
English Skills 7 and 8, and Reading Skills 7 and 8 . One goal
this year is to work together as a community of learners to gain
new skills and become stronger students. In English we will
participate in several book club meetings, read a whole class
novel, work in small groups in literature circles, and hone reading
comprehension, decoding and fluency skills through a variety of
materials. We will also create several formal writing pieces
following the writing process including at least one of each of the
following: descriptive, narrative, expository and
persuasive, as well as use technology on a regular basis. In
Reading we will use a variety of reading materials and teaching
techniques to improve comprehension, fluency, and decoding skills
to support students in meeting IEP reading goals and get closer to
grade level standard.
Please feel free to communicate with me any questions or concerns
throughout the school year. A letter will be going home with
students at the start of the year telling more about myself and our
class. I look forward to a wonderful year!
