09/02/09: Class Procedures and
Homework - All Classes
Mr. Rudd’s Math
Supplies:
Three Ring Binder (1 inch)
Loose-leaf paper
Spiral notebook/composition book for notes
Pencils, covered pencil sharpeners, pens
Calculator (Graphing if possible – TI-83+,
or at
least a scientific, like a TI-30X IIS, or TI-34)
A calculator is a tool to make math more
efficient. It is absolutely necessary.
Class Procedures:
Line up outside of D-4 (toward the water &
the Olympics) and let the previous class to exit.
Enter, find your assigned seat, take out
materials, and place your HW on the upper left
corner of your desk
Laptops are not to
be taken out and powered up unless instructed to do so!
Write the date at the top of your notes, copy
the ‘Aim’, and silently
begin working on the ‘Do Now’
We will discuss and review the ‘Do
Now’ and selected homework from the previous night
Homework:
Homework is due the day after it is
assigned. It will be reviewed daily and collected
periodically. When it is collected, the grading system is as
follows:
10 points:
Homework is stamped complete
All problems are
attempted
On time
All corrections are made
8 points:
Homework is stamped complete
All problems are
attempted
On time
No corrections are made
6 points:
Homework is not stamped complete
All corrections are made
4 points:
Homework is not stamped complete
Not all corrections are made
Homework will be posted nightly on my Math Page
website, under 'Homework'.
During the Lesson:
Take notes in your notebook. Each day, the
date should be written before the notes
begin. Please do not waste paper, write on the front
and back of each sheet.
Ask questions if you do not understand!
Follow all class expectations.
Group work or individual
time:
If the work is individual, then it is silent
time.
If the work is group work, you may converse with
your group members.
Make sure you stay
focused.
Listen to other
people’s ideas.
Work together to solve
problems.
Exhaust all avenues before asking
the teacher for assistance.
Classroom Facilities:
Water fountain/Pencil Sharpener
If you need either of these,
wait until group work or
individual time before asking
permission.
Please do not interrupt the lesson. You are welcome to have
your own
water bottle at your desk,
but it must be stored on the floor. If the privileges are
abused, they will be closed
to the individual, or the class.
Exit Procedures:
Pack up when instructed to do so.
Check your desk and the floor around you for
your belongings and garbage, carry any trash
to the garbage can on the way out of the
room.
Wait until your row is dismissed-rows will be
dismissed based upon cleanliness and
silence.
Reminder:
Next Wednesday (9/09/09) is the end of your Training Week.
Make sure you thoroughly understand and follow all class
expectations every day.
