Welcome to the Highland Terrace Music
Program
Barbara Dreier holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal
Performance with a minor in Theater Performance from the University
of Idaho. Her undergraduate work included study at Indiana
University, Michigan State University and the Aspen Music School in
Colorado. Barbara is an AGMA member (American Guild of Musical Artists) and has both sung and
acted professionally. She last sang with the Seattle Opera chorus
in the 2003 production of NORMA.
Barbara fell in love with teaching through summer employment during
her college years. She was employed as a music and drama
director at a Vermont state girls camp on Lake Champlain where she
taught students aged 8-16 and directed them in a play, a musical,
and improvisational theater. That summer was so rewarding she
returned to the University of Idaho to complete work for a teaching
credential while she taught voice as an adjunct faculty
member. This is Barbara’s 12th
year teaching in the Shoreline School District; her second at
Highland Terrace. Barbara has also
taught music at Parkwood, Ridgecrest, and the Shoreline Children's
Center.
This summer Barbara purchased an electric scooter and thoroughly
explored Magnolia, Ballard and Discovery Park in Seattle. She
had no serious accidents,
and only bought gas once in nine weeks! In her free time,
Barbara travels as much as possible, and loves to play with her two
Maine-coon kitties Sam and Andy.
