Welcome to an exciting year of
kindergarten! I was born in Montreal, Canada and moved with
my family to Seattle when I was nine years old. My
husband of 31 years and l live in Bothell where we raised our
two daughters. Tracy, age 29, is married and is a
training specialist for Peoples Bank in Lyndon, WA. Kelly,
age 21, has just completed her training as an esthetician (skin
care specialist) and is looking forward to finding the perfect job.
This is my 39th year of teaching in the Shoreline School District,
my 36th year of teaching kindergarten, and my second year at
Highland Terrace. My husband works for The Seattle Times and
plans to retire in March. This is a very special year for me,
as I plan to retire in June. I love teaching and I plan to
savor each day with this special class. This promises to be a great
year. Our class will work with the other all day kindergarten
class and the half day class for Literacy and other
activities. Your child will make many new friends and
participate in exciting activities throughout the year.

WELCOME
Welcome to an exciting kindergarten year! I am looking
forward to meeting you at our Open House on Tuesday, September 4th
from 1:30-3:30 p.m.. Come and show your child his/her
classroom.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Please refer to the letter you received in the mail to learn
whether your child begins school on Wednesday, Sept. 5th or
Thursday, Sept. 6th. Your child will attend EITHER Wednesday
or Thursday and stay home the other day. This enables me to
better get to know each child in a smaller group. Everyone
attends on Friday the 7th and each day thereafter.
SUPPLIES
Please send the following supplies with your child. You may
bring them to the Open House on the 4th or send them on the first
day of school.

10 large glue sticks (white)
1 package of wet wipes
1 box of kleenex
1 set fine tipped markers (washable, unscented)
8 broad felt tip unscented washable markers
3 packages of stickers with pictures
BOOK ORDERS
From time to time throughout the year I will send home book order
forms. This is a wonderful way to build a home library at a
reasonable price. The children love to receive the books.
Often you can find books for under a dollar. Please do not
feel that you are obligated to order any books. If you do
wish to order, please return the order form(s) with a check for the
total amount payable to Scholastic Books. You need not send
separate checks for each order. After I place the order it
takes about 2 weeks for the books to get here. I will send home the
book order forms at the end of the first week of school.
