WELCOME to Highland Terrace

Grade 1 - 4
I am excited to be a part of the Blended Program at Highland
Terrace. I am a special education teacher and teach grades one
through four. The Blended Program provides services for students
with special education needs. Highland Terrace has two
self-contained  classrooms in which
students receive individually designed instruction in all academic
areas by our special education staff.
Students in my self-contained classroom are blended with their peer
partners in a buddy class. Our classroom partners with Mrs.
McCary-Smith's first grade classroom for non-academic times
including lunch, recess, music, PE, Free Choice, assemblies, art,
and holiday parties.
We believe blending, or integrating, typically developing students
with their peers with disabilities is a terrific growth opportunity
for all.

We are happy to be a part of the Highland Terrace Community
and hope to share with you many of the joys we have found in
getting to work with some of the most special children in the
