Hello Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school
year!
I had a great summer with my family! I spent a lot of time at
the pool, camping and working on my house (painting, tiling,
weeding, planting) this summer. I feel relaxed and am excited
to start the school year with you!
This is my 8th year of teaching 7th and 8th grade science. I
have also taught some high school and 9th grade science. 7th
and 8th is my favorite! I started teaching in Spokane, WA
then spent 5 years in the Kent School District as part of their
technology school. I have been in Shoreline the past two
years. I love Shoreline! I am excited to, again, teach
both 7th and 8th grade science this year and I am looking forward
to meeting you!
If you are a 7th grader, the topics we will cover are:
- Astronomy (review)
- Properties of Matter
- Cells
- Systems
- Ecology
- Force and Motion (just a little)
If you are an 8th grader, the topics
we will cover are:
- Catastrophic Events
- Earth's Interior
- Genetics
- Atomic Structure
- Rocks
Everyday, you should bring your
laptop, pencil and notebook paper. We will go over this and
what else you need to bring on the first day of school. I'm
sure you have a lot of questions and I would be happy to answer
those via email or in class (once school starts).
See you on September 2nd!
- Mrs. Westby
