- You
should expect
homework every day, Monday through Thursday. A pocket
folder is used to bring homework and other paperwork back and forth
to school and home. Please check your child's
HOMEWORK
PLANNER which lists daily assignments.
This form should be signed by you Thursday nights, to be returned
to me on Fridays. Homework will be checked off in
class and reviewed whole class most days. You may print a
copy of the HOMEWORK PLANNER from the "Documents"
tab.
- Spelling
words and spelling assignments are sent home each
Monday. These are to be completed and returned each Friday,
our spelling test day.
- In addition to daily
homework assignments, please have your child read daily for
a minimum of
20 minutes. Have a conversation about the
reading. Ask questions - favorite character and why, what
happened first (second, third...), why do you think he/she did
that...., what would you have done, etc.
).
- Daily math facts practice of
15 minutes is a must. For timed math facts tests, students
must get 20 to 25 correct in one minute to meet standard = a
"3." They must pass standard twice at each multiplication
fact before moving on to the next fact. A score of 26 or more
correct earns a “4”, and the student moves on to the
next fact. Timed tests will also be given each
trimester in addition and subtraction, so please continue reviewing
those facts at home.
