Welcome to
Room 11!
Welcome to Ms. Stipulkosky’s
classroom website! In this website you will find some of the
basic information parents may want to know about Room 11, including
the monthly Volunteer Calendar and our Sharing Plan.
Important
Information
Earth Wise Adventures
King County Waste Management was here at the beginning of November
to provide our students with a terrific assembly about reducing
waste and conserving our natural resources (air, water, trees, and
oil). The message was focused on packaging, advertisement,
and choices that help reduce waste. Students learned that it
is best to buy food in larger sizes, and use a reusable container
to hold a small serving. Single serving containers, such a
“Lunchables,” individual yogurt, applesauce, or chip
containers, create waste that never goes away. Students also
learned about landfills and items that can and cannot be
recycled.
Coats
Winter weather is upon us! Please be sure your child comes to
school daily with a warm coat, and clothing and shoes that are
appropriate for recess. Unless it is pouring rain, students
will be sent outside for recess. Lost coast find their way to
the lost and found, located in the foyer of the school cafeteria.
Homework
Math homework will come
home almost every night, unless we did a special math lesson, or if
a single lesson had to be done over more than one day.
Math homework is pink and is
always due the day after it is assigned.
Mathematics Family Letters At the start of each new math
unit, you will receive a two-page Family Letter. This letter
tells you the content of the upcoming unit, gives ideas for games
to play at home that support the new learning (please do some of
these games together!), and the last page gives you ideas for
helping with homework as well as all the answers for the home links
in that unit. This letter is
a valuable resource; please keep this letter! Until we
get further into the year, on days when you receive a Family
Letter, no homework will be assigned.
December Conferences
December conferences are coming soon! All families are
required to attend a teacher conference once a year, and December
is the time for this. Conferences are held on the
early-release days prior to Winter Break. I will soon send
home conference sign-up requests; I will make the schedule on a
first come, first served basis.
Professional
Development
Ms. Stipulkosky will be out on November 29th in order to do
assessments for fall report cards. Mrs. McQuay will be our
guest teacher on this day, and I will be in the building doing
testing.
Guest Teachers
When I am out for training or illness, we are lucky to have a
regular guest teacher to help facilitate learning activities for
the day. Mrs. McQuay is a veteran teacher who used to teach
here at LFP.
