Welcome to
Room 11!
Please note that
the October Conference Schedule is posted in the Documents
Section.
Welcome to the Room 11 classroom
website! In this website you will find some of the basic
information parents may want to know about Room 11.
Important
Information
Welcome Back!
New families, please be sure you carefully read my Welcome Letter
that will come home on the first day of school. This letter
contains very important details you will need to start out the
school year.
School Start Time
Please help your child be on time for school each morning.
The first bell rings at 9:05, at which time students are permitted
to enter the building. The tardy bell rings at 9:10.
Your child should be in the classroom, ready to start the day when
that tardy bell rings. If your child is late, he or she will
need to stop by the office and receive a tardy slip before coming
to class. Thank you for helping your child be ready to
learn!
Snack Time
Each day, I provide a time for students to enjoy a HEALTHY snack. Daily, you may
send your child to school with a small, healthy snack.
Suggestions for snacks are crackers, veggies, fruit, granola bars,
etc. PLEASE NO NOT
SEND yogurt, anything the requires a spook, cookies, candy,
gum, or drinks other than water. I encourage all students to
carry a water bottle with them to school each day. Healthy
habits start early!
Coats
Please be sure your child comes to school daily with a coat, and
clothing and shoes that are appropriate for recess. Unless it
is pouring rain, students will be sent outside for recess.
Lost coats find their way to the lost and found, located in the
foyer of the school cafeteria. Please be sure your child's
name is written in the tags of all jackets you send to
school.
Homework
Students are given a
weekly Homework Log the first school day of each week. All
homework assignments for the week will come home with the Homewrok
Log. Check the log to verify which assignment needs to be
completed each night. Homework is always due first thing in
the morning on the due date, no exceptions. I send home the
week's homework at the start of the week so that you and your child
can plan homework time accordingly. Missing homework will be
completed during second recess. All returned homework will be
stamped or stickered. If you receive homework back that does
not look corrected, either it may not have been checked in properly
or your child may have forgotten to turn the assignment in: please
send unstamped papers back to school.
Mathematics Family Letters At the start of each new math
unit, you will receive a two-page Family Letter. This letter
tells you the content of the upcoming unit, gives ideas for games
to play at home that support the new learning (please do some of
these games together!), and the last page gives you ideas for
helping with homework as well as all the answers for the home links
in that unit. This letter is
a valuable resource; please keep this letter!
Professional Activities
I am an active member of the Shoreline Teacher's Association.
I am a Building Representative and member of the Executive
Board. These are activities that are valuable to my teaching
experience and professional development. At least twice
monthly, I have meetings right after school, and will be
unavailable during those times. I also attend the Washington
Educational Association Representative Assembly help in Spokane in
May each year. Typically, I miss two days of school for this
assembly.
Availablility
My contracted day on school days is from 8:00 AM until 4:00
PM. I answer email between these hours. If you email or
call me after 4:00, you will probably receive a response the
following day. If you need to set up a meeting time with me,
I generally am available after school between 3:30 and 4:00.
Please email me is you need to set up an appointment. Email
is the best way to contact me. Phone calls are not put
through to the classrooms during the teaching day.
