A Christmas Carol @ the ACT Theatre
Thursday, December 4th, 2008
9am-2:30pm

This is going to be a great opportunity to see a stellar performance of a holiday classic by Charles Dickens. Going down to the ACT Theatre is going to be an awesome ride because we are taking the Metro Bus!!
We will need to leave MP by 8:45am at the latest!! Because the play starts early, we will need to leave the school early.  Please communicate with each other if your child needs a ride to school.
Also, because we will be on the public bus, I would like to have four chaperones.  Please sign and check the box below if you are able to volunteer.
The following is the schedule of the day:
     •    8:50am – Leave MP for Metro bus (bus 301 - on Meridian Ave and 175th St.)
     •    9:20am – Arrive at the Convention Center (walk to ACT Theatre)
     •    10:00-11:30am – Enjoy the play then eat lunch at the Convention Center
     •    12:20pm – Leave for MP (on bus 66 – transfer at Northgate, bus 346)
     •    1:20pm – Arrive at MP and finish the day
** We will be eating lunch downtown so please bring a sack lunch (no money) **

If you can, please volunteer your time and experience the play with us!!

Print the permission form here.  Please return to school by Wednesday, December 3rd!

bhouse.gifScience Fair: Getting Ready in Class

Here is the Science Fair packet that comes home Wednesday, October 29th.  Take a good look at it, as it's going to rule most of science for the next few months!!

October 21st - Put the seeds in soil.

October 22nd - Added soap/ water solution (50/50) to each plant.

October 24th - Realized that the solution was 1. too concentrated and 2. too much for the little planters.
    - changed solution to 1/2 cup water with 1 tbsp. soap

October 27th - We realized that there was still too much solution and our plants were dying, if not dead, due to over watering.
    - changed solution to 2 tbsp. water with 1 tbsp. soap

October 29th - Watered plants with soap/ water solution
    - Accidently watered the Method solution into the "Palmolive plant."  Therefore, we watered the "Method plant" with the Palmolive solution.  Noted the mistake and moved on.

October 31st - Watered as usual.  Nothing to note :)
*Happy Halloween*

Our work space

We are beginning the Science Experiment process here in class.  In order to prepare your child for their science fair experiment, we are coming up with our own question, hypothesis, identifying variables and running the experiment.  We will be collecting data, researching, recording our found information and creating a beautiful final draft.

The question we have decided to answer is: Does the additive of dish soap to water affect the growth rate of a plant?  We are going to be monitoring six plants, five of which contain different mixtures of dish soap and water.  We will monitor the progress of growth over three weeks and come up with our conclusion.

Check back here every few days for any updates on the experiment.
