Homework

** You can find some of our homework papers or weekly spelling word lists on the documents page**

The homework policy for our class might be slightly different than what your child was used to from his or her previous class.  I know some children had homework packets in the past, however, I feel homework should focus more on creating a routine where students take home daily assignments and return them the following morning.  This type of procedure allows for individual responsibility of time management and prepares students for routines that will occur later in their education.

Homework will generally come home Monday through Thursday.  Look for our Homework Assignment Sheet, listing daily assignments with a place for your child to record his or her nightly reading.  These Homework Assignment Sheets help communicate with families our learning responsibilities; each Homework Assignment Sheet is collected on Monday mornings and a new one will be reissued for the week.  Please be sure to check your child's assignment sheet nightly.

Homework consists of nightly reading for at least 20 minutes and an assignment corresponding with our daily activities.  If  your child has a question on the homework, he or she should put a question mark on the problem.  I do not want any child to stress about always having the “right” answer; rather, I want your child to try to do his or her best work.  I encourage your child to question what they are working on, in turn; their questions help me to figure out what subject areas need more focus.
