Important Tips!
Check the Bulletin Board frequently:
We will post weekly lesson plans and our class schedule there!
Check and empty your child's file folder daily! It will have all of their artwork, finished classwork, homework, and any important information that we may need to pass on to you!
If you ever have any comments, questions, or concerns, feel free to call us in our classroom or email us. We would love to hear from you and answer any questions that you may have. Our phone number in the classroom is 206-393-1814. You can also call the office and get transferred to our room by calling 206-393-4257. Layne's email address is layne.mohlman@shorelineschools.org. Gabby and Kristi's email addresses are gabriela.barney@shorelineschools.org and kristi.thorpe@shorelineschools.org respectively. We will try our best to get back to your emails or voicemails within 24 hours.
To help our days run smoothly we have two classroom rules:
1.)  BE RESPECTFUL - we ask that everyone treat others the way that they would like to be treated. This allows everyone to feel safe and secure, which is important especially in a learning environment.
2.)  BE RESPONSIBLE - we ask that you let your child be responsible for themselves and their belongings. Although at times it can be difficult to watch our children struggle with difficult tasks, it helps them learn valuable problem solving skills, and allows them to become more independent and confident in their abilities.

Housekeeping Reminders for Parents
1.)  PLEASE  leave toys at home. It is very hard to distinguish between your toys and the ones that belong to the classroom, and things tend to get broken :(
2.)  Bring a backpack in order to carry home papers. We often send home projects and library books that cannot be bent to fit into a lunchbox, and loose papers tend to get lost. A full sized backpack ensures that everything gets home safe and sound, and also prepares your child for their future at kindergarten!
3.)  Bring a set of spare clothes in a labeled zip bag
to keep in the classroom... just in case!
4.)  Wear appropriate shoes for playing and running. Flip flops, sandals, and slip on shoes are great and often stylish, but sometimes they inhibit running around and playing, which can deprive your child of exercise.
5.)   Bring a coat; we do go outside! We don't go out in the rain, however we do go out when it's extremely cold or windy, and we only have so many spare coats, most of which are just little sweaters. Always error on the the side of caution and pack one.
