National Honor Society

You are accepted to NHS because of your outstanding scholarship, character, leadership and service. The service requirement is a way for you to continue fulfilling these pillars of NHS, just as you must continue to maintain your GPA. It also helps our community!

Looking for an NHS tutor?

Nearly all of Shorecrest's 100+ NHS members have indicated their three academic skills for tutoring.

Even better: almost all Highlander Home groups have at least NHS members assigned to that advisory. It's easy to find a tutor for your needs.

Click here for a list of Shorecrest NHS tutors.

To be an NHS MEMBER in GOOD STANDING: you must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA, accrue a combined 12 hours of tutoring/community service hours every year;. Spring inductees must complete two hours in the spring after their induction. (Use the pink sheet or blue sheets available in the College & Career Center to verify your work during school hours) Forms also available at this website under "Documents."

Each late February/early March, we will distribute emails to sophomores and juniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher (after all 1st semester grades are submitted to the registrar). If you receive an email indicating your eligibility to join NHS, please submit the appropriate survey/application.  Check the NHS Announcements page for timelines.

Just honor it!
