Shorecrest Hip Hop Wins 3A State
Title
The Shorecrest High School Hip Hop
team competed at the WIAA State Dance/Drill Competition on Friday,
March 27 at the Yakima Sundome and won the state title for 3A Hip
Hop. The team won by more then 40 points with a "Superior" rating
and brought home the State championship to Shorecrest. They also
won their fifth straight district title at Kamiak HS
ABOUT US
The Shorecrest Dance Team's purpose has been to promote diversity
within the community by using hip hop dance as its
medium The students develop a sense of
camaraderie with his/her fellow teammate while learning teamwork,
responsibility, and hip hop dance.
Representin' HIP-HOP culture at it's finest, the
Shorecrest Dance Team has been an exciting part of Shorecrest and
the community. With their crowd pleasing moves and highly
anticipated dance routines, they have amazed many crowds wherever
they perform. Striving to be better everytime, they practice hard
everyday to master their routines and look as good as
possible.
The dance team participates in school assemblies,
basketball and football games, community service events, and
several WIAA Dance/Drill Competitions.
They meet regularly every week with Coach Rex
Kinney at the Shoreline Center's Spartan Gym where they learn and
perfect their routines for the year. Robin Martin serves as a
community volunteer and adviser to Rex Kinney
Starting out as an after school ASB Club, the
team has grown into an award winning dance group. It has won
several WIAA Dance/Drill Competitions,
District Titles, and a State Championship Title.
Tryouts are every Spring in
April
To prepare
for the auditions, we recommend that you train and take classes at
Westlake Dance Center with Coach/Choreographer, Rex Kinney, on
Monday evenings at 7:30pm.
