Teacher
Profile
Ms. Fletcher grew up in New York State. She earned her
Bachelor of Arts degree from Ithaca College where she focused on
three fields of study: English Literature, Secondary Education and
Art History. Upon her arrival in Seattle she returned to the
college classroom to earn teaching endorsements in Social Studies,
History and Anthropology. She completed her Master of
Education degree in Multiculturalism at the University of
Washington in 2004.
In addition to spending a lot of time being a student, Ms. Fletcher
is an avid traveler. She tries to make sure her passport gets
routine exercise. Whether she’s walking the Pilgrims
Way to Canterbury Cathedral, climbing Mt. Fuji, finding the rune
carvings in the Hagia Sophia, or lounging by the shores of Lake
Atitlan, Ms. Fletcher enjoys seeing new places and experiencing
cultures first hand.
Although Ms. Fletcher is relatively new to Shorewood, she is not a
new teacher. Her teaching career began in 1994 at Seattle
Public Schools. After leaving Seattle Public, she taught at a
private school for two years until she joined Kamiakin Junior High
in the Lake Washington School District. Ms. Fletcher taught ninth
grade LA/SS classes at Kamiakin for many years. Now she loves
being a member of the Shorewood community and looks forward another
successful year working with wonderful students, families and
colleagues.
