Welcome to the study of the art of the English language
"No matter how good teaching may be, each student must take the responsibility for his own education."
- John Carolus S. J.

The school will soon be sending you your student's password and here is the link to access the grades.

My goal is to keep this site up to date with all the work that is due - however each student is responsible for making sure that he/she knows what is happening in the classroom.

Course descriptions, requirements and expectations can be found in the document section of the website.  Look at the document that has a similar course name.

Journal - Who are some people that have influenced your life?  Come up with at least one person you know personally, and one person you don't - but admire from afar.
They are going to go to my web page and download the article that I have titled, “About Bruce Lee”.  (I tried to do this with most of them on Tuesday.)  They are going to read the article and then, using inspiration, fill out the template, Biographical Essay. You might tell them this is not an article about Bruce Lee, but the writer of the article.
To get to the correct template they will:
open inspiration
then templates
then Language Arts
and finally the template will pop up for Biographical essay.

They will complete this on their computers.
Again I will have paper copies for the students who do not have laptops.

Then they will read the article, “Superman and Me” by Sherman Alexis that they can find that also on my documents.  For this article they need to simply create a web with inspiration that explains what the themes of the article are. (This is simply the diagram button on inspiration.)   Have them put the theme in the middle of the page and then proof around the outside that it is the theme – if they ask how many tell the eight.

When they are done reading both articles, they will fill out the article comparison template.  They can delete the third article.  When the get to the end of this comparison, rather then explain which article is most convincing – have them say which was more interesting and why.
To get there open inspiration,
templates,
 social studies,
than article comparison.

When they have completed all three inspiration documents have them place them in a folder, with the naming convention as the title of the folder
–    Period#_lastnamefirstinitial_Biographyreading
–    Have them drop the folder in the appropriate class folder on the staff server.
