My parents and five older siblings moved to Shoreline in the late 60’s.  I graduated from Shorewood in 1989; though, I was actually only at Shorewood for two semesters, the bookends of my high school years.  (My dad worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, and we lived in Germany for three years.  Sprechen Sie Deutsch?)

To give you a quick impression of who I am besides a teacher, I’ve always been a musician, athlete, and craftsy.  I originally wanted to be a rock star when I grew up.  Then, in 10th grade, I started thinking about being a teacher.  My best friend’s mom was my chemistry teacher and her dad was my math teacher and volleyball coach.  It was a natural fit for me.  I went to the UW and did my student teaching at Einstein in 1994.  Then, I taught and coached at a small Christian secondary school in Mountlake Terrace.  In 1999, I temporarily traded my backpack and textbooks in for a diaper bag and Dr. Seuss.  I left my comfort zone of working with teenagers and started teaching the toddlers and pre-K classes at our church.  Eleven years ago,  I jumped back to where I belong, teaching teens here at Shorewood.  This year, I’ll be teaching UW Pre-Calculus during period 2 and team-teaching Algebra 1 with Ms. Dickinson during periods 4 and 6.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and helping you grow as an individual.  Let’s have a great year!
