AMERICAN STUDIES: This is
an 11th grade English class, in which we will study American
Literature. You will read a major work (novel or play) each quarter
and supplementary material. Reading will highlight the emergence of
the American voice and identity, multicultural literature, genre
development, and regional influences. Writing will focus on
literary analysis, research, reflections, and communication skills
including a persuasive speech. We will also be preparing for
the SAT.
LA 10: In this class we will study literature, practice
writing, and develop vocabulary through short stories, novels,
poems, plays, and nonfiction works. We will work on using
voice in our writing, particularly in persuasive pieces. We will
also be preparing for the WASL in the Spring.
This site
will be a resource for students and parents to keep updated on
homework assignments, grades, and any other information that will
be useful and/or necessary for us all to have a successful
year. The site will be updated regularly so be sure to refer
to it often.
