Ms. Bakowski is originally from St. Petersburg, FL. She received a BS degree from the University of Florida in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation and Biology Education. She began her career in education at the Florida Museum of Natural History. There, she worked for two years in the Education Department writing curriculum and organizing public events. She then went on to do outdoor education for a year in New York in which she led NYC and Long Island middle schoolers in hikes teaching lessons on forest ecology, pond ecology, and team building. She then moved back to Florida to begin her formal teaching career in the classroom. She has been teaching for the past four years, topics such as Biology, Anatomy and Physiology Honors, and AVID. During those four years, she would spend her summers in Seattle working at the Pacific Science Center teaching in their summer camp program focused in engaging kids in scientific inquiry. She finally made the permanent move to Seattle. With her family nearby, her heart couldn't be more happy to be a part of the team at Shorewood High School!
