Maureen Setterberg-Teacher Tim Sonnega-Behavior Technician The Phoenix is the symbol of our behavior management program because it symbolizes the belief that we can all rise up from the challenges in our lives to become stronger and more whole. The Phoenix Program was first established in 1994 to serve special education students who needed a smaller and more supportive classroom than traditional special education classes could offer. The Phoenix Program offers one-on-one instruction, individualized assignments, vocational training, academic instruction, social-life skills training, and opportunities for counseling. The Phoenix staff consists of a team of professionals, including a Special Education teacher, Behavior Technician, and a Para-educator who work together to support and promote student achievement and success. Students in the Phoenix Program come here for a variety of reasons and represent a cross-section of ability levels. Students may remain in the program until age 21 if needed or may choose to work their way out of the program. The goal for every Phoenix student is to gain and practice those skills which will enable them to succeed academically and socially to their fullest potential. |
