It is about the recent immigrant experience, and the "American Dream". The author is very young, and this was last year's "Seattle Reads" book. About Ms. McFarlane: I have taught Social Studies at Shorewood since 1991, and love my job (most days)! I also taught at Einstein Middle School for a year when I first moved to the Seattle area in 1990. I have taken leave several times, to travel in Asia, work in El Salvador and have babies. I teach US History and Government, and the English Language Learner (ELL) Goal Setting class. I attended Mount Holyoke College and received my BA in Anthropology and Political Science in 1985. I received my Master of Arts in Teaching (Social Studies) from Lewis and Clark College in 1988. |
