Seattle's Blanchet High School and continued at the University of
Washington, where she served as co-captain for the Huskies her
senior year. After graduation Coach Whipple coached 4 seasons
at Redmond High School. She began her teaching career in
Shoreline at Syre Elementary. With her passion for teaching
and the game of volleyball, she hopes to lead the Thunderbirds to
success for years to come!
Nola Morrison, Junior Varsity Coach: Born and raised in Shoreline WA, Coach Morrison started playing volleyball in 5th grade, played 4 years as a “Middle” at Shoreline HS and was team captain her senior year. She has played on several adult volleyball teams over the past 25 years – both women’s and co-ed – and still enjoys playing whenever she can fit it into her schedule. She started coaching at Alderwood Boys & Girls Club where she discovered a passion for teaching kids the skills of the game and sharing her love for the game. She is extremely excited to be coaching the JV team at Shorewood and fully expects to have a successful season. Sara Hefny, C Team Coach After living in Egypt for six years, Coach Hefny moved to Seattle with her family and attended school in the Shoreline School District after a brief stint at Beacon Hill Elementary. Sara was part of the Highly Capable program at Meridian Park Elementary and went onto Einstein Middle School, where she started to play volleyball as part of the 7th grade volleyball team. Sara admits to becoming volleyball addicted, and continued to play in 8th grade and began playing club volleyball with Edmonds Volleyball Club at the same time she started high school. A four-year Varsity player at Shorewood High School, she was a Western Conference league selection as an outside hitter. Sara is currently attending the University of Washington where she hopes to double-major in International Studies and Arabic. She continues to play volleyball there on the club team, but all the while daydreaming about being someday being coached by Jim Mclaughlin! |
