Coaches Thoughts
Daily - Be here, do the
workouts
ANY absence is unexcused if not pre-arranged
with the HEAD COACH OR you missed practice for one of the
reasons outlined below.
The following ARE NOT legitimate excuses for
being late OR not at practice:
• Outside activities: Club teams, sports
training, etc.
• Work, babysitting, drivers ed, forgot workout gear.
• Getting taped in the training room- Handle taping AND icing
before practice.
• Homework/Class Projects -This will need to be taken care of
after practice.
We are requiring 90 minutes of your time
each day.
This said we will do our best to work with you if you will work
with us.
Evaluation of athlete. Age, Ability, Experience. Watch them perform
to help determine what they are capable of doing. Balancing
priorities - Injury rehabilitation, Addressing weaknesses, Building
a solid base, pre-habilitation (injury
prevention), preparing for competition.
Monitoring - Workload = Volume and Intensity of ALL
activities the athlete participates in. NOT just track and filed.
We need to know what other activities the student/athlete is
involved in.
Track/Athletics are a series of progressions
The key concept to the Shorewood Training Framework
is that a successful training program for our athletes needs to be
well rounded and address the following ‘building
blocks’.
1. Technique
2. Athleticism
3. Functional/dynamic strength
4. Pure strength and Power
5. Monitoring and Evaluation
6. Mental Imagery and Preparedness
