The Shoreline School
District is pleased to launch our 2009 Secondary Summer School
program. Our goal is to offer students stellar opportunities
to work with teachers committed to their success. 2009 course
offerings include:
Open Enrollment Courses (available to Shoreline
students and those from neighboring schools).
Tuition for all Open Enrollment classes is
$275.00.
- Integrated
1, Integrated 2 and Integrated 3 math classes for students
to either retrieve credit or to jump ahead in their math
placement.
- Advanced
College Application Process (ACAP) for students entering
their senior year in high school. ACAP is taught by experts
in the college admission process and includes field trips,
assistance with financial aid and scholarships, professional review
of applications and admissions essays, and help with finding the
right school.
- CMP
2, the standard 7th grade math curriculum in Shoreline, for
highly motivated students entering 7th grade who would like the
opportunity to 'jump' over 7th grade math and take CMP 3 (8th grade
math) in 7th grade. Students earning at least an 80% average
in the course may register for 8th grade math in the fall.
This course is also an option for students who took CMP 2 but did
not successfully complete it. (For example, a student who did
poorly in CMP2, and realizes they should review it in the summer to
be successful in CMP3).
- CMP
3, the standard 8th grade math curriculum in
Shoreline, for highly motivated students entering 8th grade who
would like the opportunity to 'jump' over 8th grade math and take
Integrated 1 (9th grade math) in 8th grade. Students earning
at least an 80% average in the course may register for Integrated 1
math in the fall. (Students who did not successfully complete
this class as an 8th grader should enroll in Pre-Integrated Math;
see below).
Special Program Courses, subsidized by the Shoreline School
District, are only open to Shoreline students. Tuition is
$25.00. Students must meet specific qualification for these
courses:
- Level 1 and
Level 2 courses for English Language Learners to continue
their language development. Separate classes will be offered
for students entering grades 7-8 and
9-12.
- Summer
Transition Enrichment Program (STEP) for Kellogg and
Einstein students who will enter Shorecrest and Shorewood in the
fall. STEP equips students with a head start on mastering
study skills, problem-solving strategies, tips for success and an
early opportunity to learn their high school's
systems.
- Reading
Support, using the Read180 curriculum for students who need
assistance increasing their reading level to succeed in high school
(please view the Elementary Summer School website for information
about reading support for elementary and middle school
students).
- Pre-Integrated Math for students who
did not meet standard on the 7th grade Math
WASL and need extra support
prior to taking Integrated 1 math in 9th grade. This class is
specifically designed to aid students who tested below grade level
and/or earned below a C in their 8th grade math class.
Online Credit Recovery
Courses, using the Apex Learning curriculum, for students who need
to recover credits towards graduation. Over 37 online
opportunities are available. Apex online is available for
students in the Shoreline district as well as neighboring
schools. Tuition for each class is
$100.00.
