This will be my 25th year of teaching! - and my 4th year here at Syre. Over the years I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I have been a reading specialist for the past 20 years.
I went to college at Cornell University and earned my teaching certificate at Colorado College. I received my Master's Degree in Reading Education from the University of Virginia. I taught in Colorado, Virginia, and Connecticut before moving to Seattle in 2008.
I love teaching reading and helping students discover the way our written language works to convey meaning and tell wonderful stories.
I live in Seattle with my husband, Marc, and our goofy golden doodle dog, Gus. We have one son, Nick, who lives in Bellingham.

I am happy to announce that the LAP reading program has been expanded by the state of Washington for the 2014-15 school. LAP will offer support reading services to all students, grades K-4, who are have not yet reached grade level standard on one or more of our assessments - even if the student is just slightly below standard! :) This is a marvelous opportunity for all students to receive the support they need to reach grade-level reading. In order to serve the increased number of students, I am joined by wonderful teaching assistants this year - Mr. Warrick, Mrs. Jacobson, Mrs. Tipple, and Mrs. McKinen.
